Using Theatre as Activism. Why might the performing arts and theatre institutions be more important than ever?

A conversation with the director of Antigone in de Amazon.

Director Milo Rau is the one of the most provocative directors in European theatre, and with Antigone in de Amazon he has created a political version of Antigone for the 21st century, together with Indigenous people, activists, and actors from Brazil and Europe.

The conversation will revolve around Milo Rau’s artistic practice, how he uses the performing arts, and the role of art in preparedness.

Det Norske Teatret´s dramaturg, Siri Løkholm Ramberg, will be leading the conversation.

Milo Rau believes that art is not about depicting the world, but about changing it. He has been described as the “most influential,” “most scandalous,” and “most ambitious” European director of our time.
