Under Oslo Pride kan du oppleve den prisvinnande, canadiske artisten Jeremy Dutcher på Det Norske Teatret.
JEREMY DUTCHER er ein klassisk trena tenor, «Two Spirit» songberar, multikunstnar, aktivist og medlem av Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) i Aust-Canada. Språkleg revitalisering står sentralt i musikken til Dutcher. Debutalbumet hans, Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, brukte arkivopptak frå forfedrane, og plata er sunge på wolastoqey, det truga morsmålet hans.
For debutplata vann Dutcher Polaris Music Prize i 2018. Det førte òg til samarbeid med artistar som Yo-Yo Ma og Leslie Feist. Det andre albumet, Motewolonuwok ᒣᑌᐧᐁᓓᓄᐧᐁᒃ, vann Polaris Music Prize i 2024, noko som gjorde Dutcher til den første som nokon gong har vunne prisen to gongar.
Musikken til Jeremy Dutcher sprenger grenser – uredd leiken i si blanding av klassisk musikk og jazz, full av ærbødigheit for dei tradisjonelle songane frå heimtraktene, og med kraft for vår tids kampar. Dutcher er ein sterk stemme i spørsmål om skeiv identitet, urfolkskultur og språkrevitalisering og mote.

During Oslo Pride, you can experience the award-winning Canadian artist Jeremy Dutcher at Det Norske Teatret.
JEREMY DUTCHER is a classically trained tenor, Two-Spirit song carrier, polymuse, activist, ethnomusicologist, and member of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) in Eastern Canada. Dedicated to language revitalization, Jeremy’s debut album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa unearthed century-old archival recordings of his ancestors, turning them into collaborative compositions on the grand piano.
Sung entirely in Wolastoqey, his endangered mother tongue, it would go on to win the 2018 Polaris Music Prize and lead to collaborations with such iconic artists as Yo-Yo Ma and Leslie Feist. His sophomore album Motewolonuwok ᒣᑌᐧᐁᓓᓄᐧᐁᒃ was awarded the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, making Jeremy the first ever two-time winner.
Jeremy’s music transcends boundaries: unapologetically playful in its incorporation of classical and jazz influences, full of reverence for the traditional songs of his home, and teeming with the urgency of modern-day resistance. He is regularly sought out for his perspectives on queerness, Indigeneity, language revitalization, and fashion.
